Choose Surrender Day 29: Faith is believing without seeing or feeling

Hebrews 11:1, 6 "Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see. And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him."

In Choose Joy: Finding Hope and Purpose When Life Hurts, Sara says that faith is believing without seeing, but it is also believing without feeling. It is trusting God's word...no matter what.

God's word... God's word is the bible...

The bible tells us in Matthew 24:35; "Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away." And in 1 Peter 1:25, "The word of the Lord endures forever..."

Faith is trusting God's word, which never changes.

There are many things in life that will change...our health, friendships, jobs, homes...kids grow and move away; loved ones pass away. Some of these changes can bring us joy, but along with joy are often feelings of loneliness, sadness, and brokenness. Through all of these feelings, God's word never changes. No matter how we feel it is I, and only I, who can choose to surrender my life to God, knowing and having faith that His word never changes.

There have been times in my life that God has seemed so far away. It is during those times that I, and only I can choose to surrender to Him and remind myself to trust in His word. His word tells me that His love is unconditional. That His love endures forever.

Psalm 136:1 "Give thanks to the Lord for He is good. His love endures forever."
