This picture cracks me up. Riley was sleeping on the pillows and when I went to snap a photo he woke up and looked at me... his hair all sleepy-faced and bed-head looking.
You know how they say dogs and their owners start to look alike? He looks just like me at this moment.
Storms are coming; the weather is changing. We've been in a little Indian summer and now the cold front is moving in. The highs have been in the 70s and in a day or so the highs will be in the 30s. It's raining and forecasted to snow. Ahhh... Iowa.
I won't repeat how this affects me... I've posted about it before [click here if you missed it]. Needless to say my pain is intense and I'm a little nervous as to how this winter is going to feel on these tired old bones.
Ok, I'm not that old but I sooo understand what old people mean by that. :)
And of all the things in the world I could wish for... oh, what I wouldn't give for a Diet Mt. Dew. It was always my version of comfort food. I'm a simple girl, really, but pop is no longer in my vocabulary. (Neither is soda for all you people in other parts of the country.) And I am one of the few people in the world who can't stand coffee... which is good because I've never wasted my money at Starbucks.
But the end result of that pain and tiredness I mentioned, and the lack of caffeine, is that my brain could think of nothing to talk about in today's post. Nada. Nothing. Zip. So that's why I'm admitting to you all that I look like my dog with bed head. It's like we're twins.
Except, you know, he's cuter. :)
Yeah, unlike me and most of us, you have managed to save a BUNCH of money on Starbucks. I'm a little jealous. ;)
ReplyDeleteAre you not allowed any soft drink or just the kind with caffeine? Diet Mt. Dew comes in caffeine free. My mom isn't allowed caff either due to heart issues but she can drink caff free. Just thought I would mention in case you didn't know.
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry, I said Diet Mt.Dew. My mom has to have diet but regular also comes that way.
ReplyDeleteI just stumbled upon your blog and I am very interested in the caffeine issue. I have been in pain for years and have been diagnosed with several things as well as told I just have a "bug". I have this bug a lot!
ReplyDeleteWhat caught my attention is that I have x-rays which say that I have Spondylitis in my neck and uper spine area.
Yet when I asked my rhuematologist and my orthopedic doctors about this, they both brushed it off as nothing to be concerned about. For them, maybe, I am the one in pain. But, I digress.
What I really want to know is if you have been told not to have caffiene. Ice Tea is ambrosia to me.
Please share the caffiene info if you can.
Thanks so much!
Gitz, I'm having an internal battle right now...when I read "snow in the forcast" I got butterflies and had to resist the urge to go out for bread and milk. (it's what we do in the deep south if snow is in the forcast) Then I read what the weather change does to your pain level and I'm sorry and praying for you and sweet Riley... THEN, I thought: hey, Gitz should just move the the ATL! We can't get a good snow no matter how hard we try and for the past 3 years we've been in a drought so we don't even get much rain!
ReplyDeleteOne drawback though, in August it feels a little like someone decided to build out fine city right smack in the center of hell.
Anyhoo, I told you I was having a battle. Oh, and it may be because I'm hopped up on caffine. Sorry~
Sending love today and prayers...
Gitz and Robin, I can help! The ATL gets way hotter than TN, and we don't get much snow either! So maybe Gitz and Robin can move to TN. We'll all hang out in Narshville (some call it Nashvegas but I prefer my great-grandmother's pronunciation) and listen to the people sing on the corners. Hey WE could sing on a corner. Wouldn't that be fun?
ReplyDeleteP.S. Riley does look a little like you, Sara.
Sara - sorry about your "old bones" - I'm in the same club. On caffeine - I've been off it for years, but thankfully, I don't miss it a bit, and I rarely drink soda at all. Hugs to you and Riley.
ReplyDeleteOff Topic: I just noticed that you don't have a 'doodles' category. Wha?
ReplyDeleteHa- that picture is too funny!
ReplyDeleteYou know, I'm not a coffee drinker either, but today I couldn't resist stopping at starbucks for a Passion Iced Tea lemonade. Doh- They still got my money! :)
hey guys... sorry I haven't been checking in the comments today...
ReplyDeletethe no caffine is more for my the digestive issues and not about any of the pain stuff... some of you sounded like you thought I meant that made a difference. It's more for my stomach and throat problems.
As for moving South... I have a couple friends who may not think that's such a great idea, but I do know from the people I've met through here that I'd have no problem coming your way :) but I might miss a few people around here too much!
@debbie: I'm going to look and see if you have an email listed in your profile. I'd drop you a note :)
Hey, I just thought of something. Who needs caffeine when you have Ambien?
ReplyDelete@anita... that was brilliant! :)
ReplyDeleteAww thats a sweet little face!! And I too have recently given up the coffe bean... Ughhh. It ain't easy but I'm sure well worth it once I get thrugh the shakes, headaches and weeping... Oh, and good luck to ya!! ;) LA
ReplyDeletei hate that youre in pain. dang it.
ReplyDeletepraying for you, gitz...
I am not a coffee drinker either!! Love the smell of it though...hate the taste. As for the carbonated beverages...here in TN they are cokes...regardless if it's a coca cola or not...here's how the conversation would go...you want something to drink/ sure whatcha got?/ tea, lemonade, coke, water/ What kind of coke/ sprite, dr pepper and mt dew.
