Facebook Interview

Hey there, peeps…

Just wanted to check in with you all… I can’t even tell you how I felt when I sat at the computer and read all of your comments this week. It’s absolutely ridiculous how lucky I am to be surrounded by such kind and loving people. So many of you talked about how you feel like we’re friends even though we’ll never meet, and I have to tell you I know exactly how you feel. It’s not always easy for me to tell people about it when things are rough, but I have such a real sense of friendship with all of you that it just didn’t feel right not letting you in this part of my life as well.

I wrote about it for you, but in the end I’m the one who was given so much by your comments. You all help me more than you know. So thank you for that.

Ok, onto today’s post…

I still haven’t written anything new, so this totally makes me feel like I’m cheating on a college paper or something… but here for your reading pleasure is a random questionnaire I took on Facebook when I first joined it a few months ago. I don’t normally do this kind of stuff on Facebook, but I’m kind of glad I did this one so I have something fresh to share with you. :)

Hope you enjoy some random facts, just for fun…

Ok, just for fun why don’t you tell me at least one random/interesting thing about you in the comment section … that should keep us entertained for awhile. smile_teeth

  1. ok....the "how do you feel/with my fingers" is too funny. I'm seriously stealing that line. I've got to what would you get...and where? I thought having a tattoo over the huge scar on my side/back would be cool, but DH nixed the idea.

It's good to "see" you. :) Blessings, SusanD

  2. Random, eh? I'm horrible at random. Let's see. I'm currently re-reading Les Miserables (in English). I drive a minivan--soon to be with *three* car seats. I always grocery shop on Monday mornings. When I was growing up I wanted 6 kids. Now I say 4. My husband says three is enough. We'll see what God has in store! Pretty random.

    Recent blog:=- Kate-isms

  3. I can... touch my tongue to my nose, cross only my left eye while keeping my right looking straight ahead, eat a whole carton of ice cream if i wanted to (and if i was not afraid of gaining another five pounds), make a great big fool of myself very easily and have a hard time living it down, sing alto and soprano, make papercuts ( ), and.. hm, maybe I should stop now... Thanks for letting me expose my most secret silliness moments. Kind of fun. :-)

  4. Random huh? Well, hmmm... I have an obsessive need to finish things on lists. Which makes my DVR and the Netflix we just subscribed to more of a job than fun. ;-) I seriously MUST watch Netflix as soon as it comes so that I can put it BACK in the mailbox! The DVR number of hours free is like a taunt to me, at all times it must be higher so there is more room! I know, it's strange. :)

  5. I am thinking about the sheer amount of effort it had to have taken you to even post this! Gosh its so good to see something from you, especially something as fun as this ;) Um, I may have used up my random things yesterday... I'll go with one of those... I am double jointed in my left thumb and my left hip, and although I am right handed, I shoot pool with my left :-P

    Recent blog:=- Happy Birthday!

  6. Sometimes I go blind to dirt. Nothing else. Just dirt. I sail happily through my house until VOILA! my sight is restored and I am aghast at the state of things. It is a difficult disability to have after the spell, but during, not so bad.

    Recent blog:=- Verse Flinging 101

  7. A few random things about myself....

Keeping my legs straight, I can bend down and place my hands palm down to the floor. (AND I'M TALL!)

I can't stand it when people use the microwave, but stop it before its finished, and then NOT CLEAR/RESET it. Don't know why, but it annoys me.

Something else that annoys me is when my husband, or anyone else, tears off a papertowel but doesn't get it all and leaves a small piece of it hanging on. What's wrong with me?!? :)

One other tidbit of randomness about me, I can name all 50 states in alphabetical order.

  8. I love the how do you feel answer. I'll have to remember that next time someone ask me. Hope you are having a wonderful day!

As for some randomness about me.
*I fidget way too much and it totally drives me insane.
*I have a very hard time relaxing unless I'm reading a book. If I'm not reading I'm always thinking of things I need to get done.
*I have lived in the same place my whole life and love it!
*I have a 100 pound lab/great dane mix who does not like to sit on the ground. She is either sitting in a chair, on the trampoline, in the back of a truck- anywhere but the ground. (She is goofy!)
*I love the smell of cucumbers & corn but don't eat them.

Guess that's enough of my randomness!

  9. This sounds so much like my sister. She even makes lists of what to make lists of. :)

  10. I love the smell of fresh ground coffee, but don't drink it.

Since i've stopped using chemical cleaners & soaps & laundry products i can't stand walking that aisle - the smells make me ill.

I'm rather ADD on the computer - having 18 windows open (currently) & flitting between them.

I love animals. My lifestyle doesn't accommodate dogs now. My cats tend to have more of a "dog" personality. (One of my cats loves to fetch.) Cats are not as good at comforting when i'm sad as dogs are.

I wish i were more like you, Sara, in my acceptance of my life. :)

Recent blog:=- Lazy, or procrastinator, or ???

  11. I don't like things that most everyone I know likes. I don't like donuts, and I don't mean because they are bad for you or other reasons people give. I can't even smell them without wanting to throw up. They are gross to me. My wonderful daughter Christina and my boys can't compute that.

I don't like coffee at all. It is gross. I don't get how people love it.

I hate cinnamon it makes me sick.

  12. I am a hypochondriac who is afraid of going to see a doctor. Who might confirm that I do have whatever diseases I saw on TV, or the Internet, and now have the symptoms of.

I enjoy being around people, NYC is my favorite place, but also love the personal freedom of living alone. Sorry Riley, not pets allowed in my condo. :)

If I could afford it I would seriously consider having cosmetic surgery to remove the bags, now more the size of suitcases, under my eyes.

My two favorite movies are the 1990 horror film Tremors, and the 1950, Alastir Sim version, of Scrooge.

Recent blog:=- Neda Agha Soltan (1982-2009)

  13. Ha! That sounds like me!

I have also been known to put things on a list that are already done, just so I can cross them off the list. :)

  14. Hi Friend....hope you don't mind me calling you heart thinks of you that way! I liked the Facebook interview...random but interesting. I'm too random to be interesting...a short attention span perhaps? :)

I love dogs, poetry, clean mountain dirt, campfire ghost stories, the smell of rain, children's laughter, MY two amazing children, my husband, my country, God, Glacier National Park, Cat Stevens, the Food Network and sunny/positive people like you! :)

    Hope you're feeling better!

  18. Oh my cow... I'm constantly looking at the percentage on my DVR... and there's barely anything on it because it's summer. I thought I was the only one who did that.

I love lists, too... and organizing. Sometimes I want to mess up my closet just to clean it again.

    Recent blog:=- Facebook Interview

  19. I actually just cut/paste the list so it wasn't too bad. :) I'm trying to type in spurts and get myself going again ... the action seems to flare up the pain in my ribs, but I'm finding a balance with it.

And I can't imagine shooting pool with my left hand... I always had enough trouble when shooting with my right :)

  23. House on rancheroJuly 1, 2009 at 2:52 PM

I loved Michael Jackson. When I was younger (I won't say how young!) I collected tons of pictures from magazines of Michael Jackson and taped them all over my walls. It looked like Wallpaper when I was finished! And, yes I was devestated when I heard about him last week! One thing on my life list of things to do was to see him in concert. I guess I'll have to replace that goal with a new, go on vacation with Jon Bon Jovi!!! :*

  24. I am the EXACT same way about coffee... I love the smell so much I have tried to make myself a coffee drinker, but I hate it. I don't like anything mocha flavored either. Just not my thing.

As far as the acceptance thing... I have to work at it, too. It's the choosing to work on it part that makes all the difference. :)

  25. You, me and Kathryn above you are on the same page with coffee... but you totally lose me on the donuts.

Man, I could go for some raised, glazed donuts about now...

  26. Nope, you are not the only one! I am an organizational freak, I buy those plastic tubs with lids even when I have nothing to put in them just so the next time I clean out a closet and NEED one I have some to pick from. :) I love an organized space!

  27. My biggest dream was always to spend time in NYC but I never made it there. I always thought I could be happy living in a tiny flat, exploring the city, singing in a jazz club at night. I wouldn't want to do that forever, but for six months or a year... just to experience the life there... would have been amazing.

I have to know, though... what is CLEAN mountain dirt? is there dirty mountain dirt? i apparently haven't hung out on enough mountains to know :-D

  30. i loved him when i was younger, too... love his early and mid-music the most. he lost me later in life, though... just made me sad to look at him and think how unsettled his life must have been. it's like two totally different people in my mind.

and if you find a way to vacation with jon, make sure you stop by my house so i can say hi :)

  31. okay, I was laughing at Anita's dirt blindness, but even funnier is your response Sara :)

  32. oh my gosh Deanna, it's such a relief to hear that other people notice the clock on the microwave and the unclearly ripped paper towels! We should start a support group! Could we also include having to perfectly line up the hand towels in the bathroom every time you walk in there?

  33. My dad's favorite is when I call and say "hey dad, what are you up to?" he always responds with "oh, about 5'11" I guess".

  34. It always kills me when I'm on the phone with dad and after he asks how I'm doing he'll say, "Well, you're sure looking good." Mmm-hmm... I always look good when you can't see me :)

  35. Hmmm...that was let's see...When I was in 3rd grade I won a coloring contest for designing a barbie outfit. I got $250 worth of Mattell merchandise. That was a lot of money back then...and it was so fun to spend it! Another random thought. I love flip flops and sandals in the summer, but when I was in college I wouldn't wear them cuz I thought my feet were ugly. Sara, do you remember when you and Nicole took me to get my first pair of sandals? I remember them well. Let's more random ultimate dream job is to be the director/creator of a children's museum. How cool would that be???

This was fun! Hope you have had a few good chuckles today.

  36. We would never get anything accomplished if we had meetings, because I doubt we would all be on the same db cycle. Some would be rushing around picking up and the rest of us would be like, "What's the problem? Sit DOWN! Visit with us! The house looks GREAT!"

  39. Hiya -
It is an oxymoron of sorts, I guess! I just LOVE the smell of the freshly washed ground after a good rain....I grew up on a ranch at Lake Tahoe and there's just no perfume like the smell of the forest after a rainshower.
Has your little guy's mowhawk grown out yet? I still laugh every time I think of that story....he's just so darn cute with it! :)

  40. and don't forget about putting the lid down on the toilet seat. i can never understand why people leave it open... it's there to shut for a reason...

  41. OF COURSE I remember... do you remember how freaking excited you were when you had tan lines from the sandals?!?!?! That was so funny...

And you should so do the Children's Museum someday... you'd be amazingly good at that.

  42. Man, I'm getting into the conversation late today ... dratted errands! Random and interesting, hmmm ... I love to dip crispy warm french fries in chocolate milkshake! Yum! And, that's even when I'm not pregnant! :) And, I am not highly coordinated on land, but I can swim like a fish and played water polo for awhile in high school.

This was fun! :) Hope you're feeling perkier. Still praying for you sweet friend!

  43. I can totally see you going with the aliens. You might feel better on their planet. Random about me... I was once nominated to play flute at the Macy's Parade in NYC. Didn't make it but I was nominated. I was a member of Math League when i was in HS. Until the year I competed my school had never had anyone in the top 25% for the state. I scored 11th in my catagory. But a team member scored 2nd in his catagory. So he received a plaque and award from the school that would have been mine had he not competed. Sounds like I'm still bitter. Mike Sommers if you read this I still hate you. LOL

  44. Brenda White SimmonsJuly 1, 2009 at 4:47 PM

I can't handle stepping out of the shower with wet feet...that is pretty random.

  45. i'd love the fries... and the shake... but i'd definitely love them s-e-p-a-r-a-t-e-l-y... :-P

  46. oh, susan... that TOTALLY made me laugh! and makes me wish Mike Sommers read it...

  47. that IS random, woman... does it bug you even if you're stepping on a rug? good to know you can still crack me up...

  48. I worked with a man once who would take out his wallet and say "would you like to see my pride and joy" and when you said yes, he opened his wallet and had two of pride (not sure if it was dusting stuff or detergent) and one of joy dishwashing liquid. He thought it was hilariousl

My eyeliner is tattooed (sp?) and I love it, but it hurt like all get out! Kind of like a sewing machine going across your eyelids hundreds of times!

  49. I run in the halls at work when no one is looking.

  50. for exercise or just for fun?

  51. i would LOVE to have permanent eyeliner but there is NO WAY you'd get needles by my eyes like that!!!!

  52. I really enjoyed reading your post...very interesting.

Random things about myself...gee, I really don't know. But I'll try...

    1. I spend more money on my dogs than I do myself. I worry about their health more than my own.

    2. I can not stand to see someone in flip-flops with unkept toenails. I know weird, but it bugs me to death, especially for guys not to trim their toenails....can not stand it.

    3. I will not buy anything unless it is on sale. Or thrifted.

    4. I love peas and carrots, but not mixed together.

    5. I wish for just one day, I could be a famous experience their life for just one day.

    6. I wish my family did not think I was really silly for crying over Michael Jackson's death. I have been so sad for him, he was a unsettled soul searching for love and happiness. Makes me so sad.

    7. I am perfectly happy driving my 10 year old car, instead of buying a new one. Actually, I don't even want a new one.

    8. I think I want to sky dive...can you just imagine the rush that must be? And the weird thing is, I am scared to death of heights.

Random enough??? Yea, you must think I am a crazy lady!!

Have a great day, Sara....hope you are feeling a bit stronger.

I can totally relate to the needing organization - it's so relaxing to walk into a clean room! :)

  56. Well, I'm heading out on an 8 day vacation with the family tomorrow, so I just wanted to say goodbye, and wish you a happy 4th! Here's to YOUR independence, Sara! Do you get any views of fireworks from your windows? I pray that when I return I will find you back to your old self, and feeling a whole lot better than you have been!
    Take care of you!

  57. that's funny about the ice pack... we're you all playing the same game, or were they random injuries? you'll definitely want to make sure you keep up with your health insurance! :-P

  58. HOW FUN! I hope you have an amazing time... I won't see fireworks from here, but I'll probably hear them going off. I used to go to my friend Susie's house... they have a perfect view from their backyard of the town fireworks.

  59. Trouble is even if he did read this he probably still wouldn't know what I was talking about. That was over 30 years ago and I didn't live in FL at the time.

  60. have you tried parasailing. I'm afraid of heights but LOVE to parasail. figure that one out.

  61. We're STILL at home, waiting for our refrigerator repair man to complete his work before we can hit the road. Ugh! We were hoping to leave early this morning, and now we're already delayed about 4 hours. Any-hoo ... how does Riley do with the sound of fireworks? Our silly dog needs to be tranquilized every year, because he has a near panic attack at the sound of thunder or even 1 firework ... the succession of firework sounds ALL. NIGHT. LONG would surely do him in :)
